I have never ever ever ever scanned a QR code. Have you? Was it worth downloading an app?
Or would it have been just as easy to search on Google?
The worst thing that is people think it's cutting edge "Let's be cool and put a QR code on it."
Fuck that. What is the point?! They are ugly, pointless and most of the time don't work. Most people don't have the app anyway.
So next time someone asks you to do a digital idea. Please don't just shove a QR code on the bottom corner that links to the website.
We'd love to see some original examples of using a QR code though. Please e-mail examples to us at interest@bankofcreativity.co.uk but we don't think that any exist.
We also pulled the QR code image above off Google so we're not sure it leads to. Feel free to scan it. We apologise if it leads to horse porn. Unless that's what you're into.
Initially I was in total agreement with this view. They look like robot vomit, however it's not the codes fault. Putting a QR code on anything just to look modern is lazy marketing. It stinks. Used correctly with interesting, unique and relevant content build behind them and they become an amazing customer journey that not only engages people but enhances the brand experience.

We were sent in a couple of nice uses yesterday. Including this nice ad http://www.demilked.com/tattoo-job-qr-code/ It's the lazy marketing that you speak of that we hate. Great comment.
