Guest Blog Post from 2 Cheeky Fuckers

Today we invited our followers to write a guest blog post and Rob and Brendan got in there first by tweeting us back saying "We're in boys". Didn't really want to know what they do in their personal lives...-___- but admire the enthusiasm. Tremendous attitude for such annoying twats ;)

In all seriousness though, the following article written by them is the best I have seen from any student yet. They know that it's not just work that gets you noticed. It's getting yourself noticed that gets you noticed. See what you think of what they say below. Do they chat shit or are they right? Let us know in the comment box below or tweet us @BOC_ATM...

BE DIFFERENT.

Advertising, as far as industries go, it’s probably the most competitive and hardest of the lot and unfortunately, I’m not kidding. So what does this mean for us graduates? BE DIFFERENT. So, step from behind your MacBook, sign out of your shitty joint twitter account you both update monthly at most and get your fucking name out there and be noticed. Your work is not going to do all the talking, no matter have fantastic it is. I’m the copywriter half of the team whilst Brendan is the art director. We’ve just finished our final day at uni and guess what we’re not running around like headless chickens because, we were prepared and we think and do things differently. Over the past few months apart from working our fingers to the bone and missed out on countless nights of sleep we started to stalk down creative directors, drink with them, I mean really drink with them, like we don’t leave until the bar is closed, that stuff gets you noticed. And what else? We gate crashed the Roses Awards a few weeks ago, we threw on a suit, waited outside until two guys in tuxedos walked in and we managed to sneak past the security (I don’t know how). And guess what? We got another placement out of it. The second in two months. This is the kind of stuff you need to do. We also Snapchat these two idiots from the Bank of Creativity, its stupid, fun and creative and its worrying how many penis’s are sketched on each others faces. But, that has got us on their radar and they’ve not even seen our work yet. Can you see my point I’m trying to get across now? “Make Shit Happen”. Believe me its not going to happen behind the screen of your MacBook whilst you send a cringey tweet to a creative team or even worse a CD. Put a face to your names, brand yourselves and impress every fucker you meet. If none of this sounds like something you want to do, I heard Costa Coffee's 10 year plan is pretty fantastic. I’m sorry if I’ve come across really harsh but I’m trying to help any undergraduate from my own experience, and we’re in the midst of setting up a project to do just that very soon, so keep an eye out. Get your game faces on guys, its competitive, its hard, but we all love it, this is what we want to do with the rest of our lives, and hopefully you should, like us stop at nothing to make it happen. Hell, look at me, its 8.30pm on a Sunday night and I’m writing a blog post for the good guys at Bank of Creativity.

Good Luck, you’ll need it.

Rob + Brendan
